Man finds Iraqi oil under American territoryJune 16, 2005 00:00 Abdul Hassan, former Iraqi citizen and resident of Waco, TX, claims to have found evidence that Iraqi oil may be lying just meters below the Texas surface. A former worker in the oil fields of Saddam Hussein, Hassan asserts that the crude he works with in the Haliburton-owned petroleum fields outside Waco "smells, feels, and tastes" just like the crude oil that he worked with in his homeland. Hassan contacted an international legal team based in the Hague to find out what reparations the US government might be made to pay for "stealing Iraqi oil right out from under the feet of the American people." When contacted about the claims, the nominee for the US Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, stated that "US Government and Haliburton Co scientific teams have studied the issue and determined that there is no conclusive connection between the sovereign nation of Iraq and the petroleum fields of Texas." Bolton further indicated that the US would exhaust all diplomatic channels before resorting to the use of force to assert the Bush family's claim to the Texas oil fields.
