Leaked British Memo: Ok to Call Blair 'Mini Me'July 12, 2005 00:00
A new memo leaked by British staffers categorizes the names by which Downing Street student interns are allowed to refer to Prime Minister Tony Blair when creating communique's from Blair's office to the White House. Apparently, numerous nicknames for Blair abound including US President George W. Bush's pet names for the PM such as "Mini Me", "Podner", and "Li'l Buddy". Nicknames from the Tory and liberal press are strictly forbidden, including "Bush's Bitch", "The American Poodle", "American Puppet", and "Bush Hugger". Interns must review every communique between Downing Street and the Whitehouse. When asked why interns were used for such as purpose, a Blair staffer replied "How better could we have repaid our American colleagues' loyalty than by employing their best fundraisers' children in the hallowed halls of our highest offices?"
