Bush to Father: I'm President Now, DaddyAugust 18, 2005 00:00 During a recent call between the Oval Office and the country's backup command center in Kennebunkport, Maine, where the former President George H. W. Bush is holed up, the younger President George W. Bush told his father to "Shut the f*** up because I'm President now, Daddy." The elder Bush was expressing his discomfort with W43's plummeting poll numbers, showing him to be as unpopular as Johnson was during the dog days of the Viet Nam war. The current President Bush became irate, according to undisclosed White House staffers, and proceeded to "give it to his Daddy, but good." Staffers were suprised to hear the younger Bush say anything as his usual demeanor is to take notes on the instructions that he receives from his father over the phone. This time the instructions went unrecorded and the call ended abruptly as the elder statesman declared that "a former President doesn't need to listen to this kind of trash from his druggie son." The unnamed source suggested that this turn of events creates a high degree of uncertainty in the direction that the Administration will take as they had never seen George W. fail to take direction from his father, even to the point of asking permission to use the bathroom during their long conference calls.
