Bush Thought Reagan Wanted US to be the Evil EmpireDecember 19, 2005 00:00 At a press conference today, President Bush claimed the excuse that he 'missed that day in school' when a young reporter corrected the president's statement that 'we have assumed the role of the next Evil Empire as the great Ronald Reagan wanted.' Bush seemed astounded when a high school intern to the New York Times raised his hand and told the president that 'Ronald Reagan actually said that the Soviet Union was the Evil Empire, sir.' The student continued by describing the tense relationship between the USA and the USSR, explaining that some people believe that Reagan's tactics helped to push the USSR into bankruptcy. When the president remained speechless, blinking a reporters for several seconds, Karl Rove rushed the podium and whispered in Bush's ear. Bush then quipped that he must have missed that day in school and went on to state that the 'No Child Left Behind law has been successful in the elimination of dangerous terrorists from our nation's elementary schools.' The confused and flustered Bush quickly ended the news conference after that.
