US to Subcontract TSA Activities to Saudi ArabiaFebruary 23, 2006 22:35 President Bush announced today that his administration had approved of a deal in which Saudi Arabia would take over US Transportation Security Agency activities at American airports. The Saudi responsibilities would include baggage and passenger screening as well as terrorism deterrence.

Shocked Senators from both parties issued press releases questioning the President's judgement in handling over the security of the nation's airline passengers to a country that produced most of the September 11, 2001 hijackers. In response to mounting public outrage, Bush issued a statement that reads:

"As President of the United States, I take full responsibility for my job to keep the country secure from the enemy. I know my job and I do my job. I work hard. [The TSA subcontract] plan has been under the investigation of my closest advisers for months and, if they approve, then I approve. I trust them and Americans should trust me. We are secure. No one should be questioning the... our security."

House and Senate investigations have begun into the approval process for the Saudi contract.

In other news, a company run by the Iranian government and 49% owned by Halliburton has been awarded a contract to guard US nuclear missile silos.
